Storm of Uncertainty

My painting captures the USA’s withdrawal of support from Ukraine, symbolized by storm clouds forming Trump’s profile.

Zelensky stands resolute amidst Ukraine’s beauty, with rising waters hinting at challenges ahead. The sunset suggests an uncertain future.

Carrying the Concequences

On a holiday on the island of Borneo in Indonesia many years ago, I encountered #orangutans in a rescue centre in Kalimantan. These amazing apes made a lasting impression on me.

Thank you to my very inspiring guide at the time @fardiborneo👏

–>>> This painting captures the uneasy balance between human survival and wildlife conservation in Borneo.

A worker carries a displaced orangutan out of a palm oil plantation—both a rescuer and part of the system that threatens its existence.

This moment of tension and compassion reflects the broader crisis of deforestation, urging us to question our role in protecting nature.

Echoes Beneath

A whale glides beneath a vessel, caught in the turbulence of sonar waves. The fluidity of watercolor contrasts the ocean’s vast serenity with the unseen dangers of human activity.

Whales rely on sound to navigate, communicate, and survive. Increasing sonar use disrupts their world, causing disorientation, stress, and strandings. The delicate balance of marine life is being altered in ways still not fully understood.

This piece evokes both wonder and concern, urging awareness of the unseen consequences of human technology and the need for more sustainable coexistence with ocean life.

Greed

A bald eagle, bathed in the golden light of the sun, soars through the sky with its prey—the Earth—gripped tightly in its talons. Rather than a symbol of freedom, this eagle embodies unchecked power and greed. Its claws pierce the planet’s surface, leaving deep wounds that bleed into the waters below, a stark reminder of the destruction inflicted by selfish ambition.

On the ground, two refugees stand in disbelief beside the tents of their camp, bearing silent witness to the devastation. Their presence speaks to the countless lives displaced and destroyed by the pursuit of dominance and profit. The eagle’s eyes, filled with dollar signs, reveal a relentless hunger for wealth and control, indifferent to the suffering left in its wake.

This piece confronts the consequences of greed-driven actions and the human cost of power without conscience. It serves as a reflection on exploitation, displacement, and the urgent need for accountability in a world shaped by those who value profit over humanity.

Heritage and Horizons

Heritage and Horizons portrays the vibrant rhythm of rural South African life.

At dusk, children play soccer near traditional huts, while family and friends watch with compassion. Nguni cattle linger nearby, grounding the scene in heritage.

A glowing TV inside a hut with a satellite dish hints at the blend of modernity and tradition. This work celebrates the enduring spirit of community amidst change.
