Marcelle Heller is a visual artist based in South Africa. Born in Switzerland, she began her creative career with a diploma in interior architecture, designing ceramic art inspired by the vibrant and whimsical style of Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser and Spanish Architect Antoni Gaudi.
This early passion was set aside for a corporate path, family and the conversion of an old farmhouse into a multi-family home. With new found freedom after her four children had grown up, Marcelle embarked on a five-year global adventure, followed by three years in France, before settling in South Africa in 2020. It was here, amidst the rich biodiversity of Southern Africa, that Marcelle reconnected with her passion for creating art.
While she draws inspiration from her extended travels and photography for her art, she often incorporates contemporary issues to invite the viewer to engage and reflect. She works from her studio in Keurboomstrand, Plettenberg Bay.
